Kalakand is a mélange of two different milk products, paneer (cottage cheese) and mava (thick milk), cooked till it retains thick consistency. Said to have originated in Rajasthan, this sweet is quite popular in North and East India as well.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Paneer/cottage cheese
  • 3/4 cup Condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp Elaichi powder/green cardamom
  • 1 Tbsp Pistachio/pista

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Mash paneer well with hands such that there are no lumps.
  • Now heat a pan, add paneer, condensed milk and cook on medium flame for 15 mins or till the mixture starts leaving the sides. Add elaichi (cardamom) powder and mix well.
  • Spread the mixture on a greased tray. Let it cool down then cut into squares, garnish with chopped pistachio.

Notes

**Paneer (Cottage Cheese) is always better when homemade to get ultimate softness. **Keep stirring the mixture continuously to prevent from burning.
